About Stephanie Dulaney
I don’t believe that art should just be limited to walls or people’s private collections, but something we can surround ourselves with by turning common everyday items into functional art. I find the idea of functional art very appealing. Whether it be a handcrafted coaster, plate, or jewelry, it is a way to share and show one’s appreciation for design and beauty.
I believe that art and beauty are all around us, we just need to take the time to look. My inspiration comes from many places: my own imagination, patterns and colors, but especially the outdoors. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who have fostered and appreciated my creativity from a young age. I grew up in a family where everyone would get together and tell their stories, some truer than others, about wild animals and supernatural events they experienced growing up in the hills of West Virginia. The beauty and rich history of West Virginia seems to provide my imagination with endless material.
I began working in glass in 2008 in an effort to make more of my jewelry components handmade. Since then I have continued to hone my glass working skills and increase my skills by learning new techniques. I use only high-quality materials and go to great lengths through every step of the glass working processes to ensure I create a quality piece. I pride myself on craftsmanship and believe anything worth doing is worth doing well.
